First Day Back!

 After planting tomatoes we needed water for them - and the creek was perfectly close to the garden.  But guess what Kai-Kai found??  Crawdads!  So the rest of our morning was spent hunting for more!  Ben, Rita & Reagan searched the lower part of the creek....

 And Josie, Sofe & Rebecca found another one upstream!

With all our outdoor adventures we didn't have quite as much time for our art class - but Rita & Rebecca had time for a chalk color wheel/elements drawing

It was a fantastic first week!  I am already looking forward to next Friday & the new friends that will joining us who were sick or not able to come this week - Gabriella, Ezra & Simeon; Emma, Alona & Zach.  See you all Friday!!!

Ready to get your hands dirty??

Open house is this coming Wednesday!  1030-1130am, then our first day is next Friday, June 9 from 10-1pm.  A few more openings in the prek class - see you there!

Attention former students!

YOU have first priority in re-enrollment!  Please contact me ASAP to reserve your spot - 7 are already filled!

Tuition is $12 per day & $10 for each sibling, with a $15 supply fee per family per 4 week session.  Choose a minimum of 4 days between June 9 & August 4 (except June 14) - we'll be meeting on both Wednesday & Friday this summer. The children will have a cooking class on Wednesdays to make their own lunch (included in tuition/supply fee) & bring a sack lunch on Fridays.  Children will rotate through 4 stations: Gardening/outside playtime, cooking/lunch, art lesson, & tinkerlab/sewing/games/lego etc.  The prek group will have their own classroom for tinkerlab & art.

Our son Zach & his wife Julia will be teaching the prek class ages 3-5, & I will teach the elementary group ages 6-10.  There's wiggle room in each group, but 2's may only come if a parent stays on site.

Our prek class will be in for a treat with these two on the team!  They babysit for the Quincy Classical Conversations group as well, & I'm told the children adore them :0)

Don't forget the Introduction Day on Wednesday, June 7!  It's a short tour & playtime - but if we're having too much fun we can stay longer :0)  We'll have some snacks & walk through both classrooms, kitchen/dining room, playground & garden.

We've got the first load of supplies ready to take to Countryside! Here's an example of a chalk lesson we'll be doing this summer.

Maybe we'll find some interesting wildife in the tall grass?

Or build fairy houses around the trees!

How about some watercolor? All ages will have the opportunity on a regular basis - both wet on wet & dry.

Introduction Day!

Coming up on Wednesday, June 7 from 10:30-11:30am!  Come see the classrooms, tour the kitchen & garden areas, & see old & new friends.  We are busy preparing the space for all the children & even the heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers & peppers in the greenhouse can't wait for opening day!  That's right, we even have a garden plot to grow our own food for cooking class!

It could be time??

Thinking about reviving this blog as well as Countryside! Malachi is on his way to being potty trained & we all miss our friends from prek.  But guess what?  I don't have any preschoolers!  So if we get going again we'll run a class of 12 for 3-5 year olds & a class of 14 for ages 6-10.  Watch this space!  If we do get going again it would be nice to do an 8 week summer session ;0)

Closing down for awhile!

If you've been following along on our playschool adventure, you may wonder what has been happening since the last post in NOVEMBER??!  Well, I was really sick, then our new baby arrived in January, we were in Florida in March, and we had some play dates at Countryside in April & May :0)  I thought I would have the energy to keep up our play dates about every other week through the summer & then start Countryside up again in the fall, but I do not.  Our 5th precious little one will probably be 3 before I consider opening again, but that is ok - I have LOVED this - but - it is time for me to just focus on my family & the 3 R's.  Josie is reading well even with our hit & miss schedule this past school year & Ben is coming along great & is very motivated to do whatever his big sis is doing.  Baby Malachi is just starting to get into a bit of a routine, but sleep is often lacking for me & Papa J!
